Mud Lake aka the Britannia Conservation Area is a favourite spot of mine. I spend hours there with my Pentax K-3 mk.2 or my K-3 and normally my Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM using in lens OS. Mud Lake is <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“a provincially significant wetland and an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest by the Government of Ontario. It is also classified as a protected area by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This 60-hectare natural environment is a complex of wetlands along the Ottawa River, the majority of which is made up of deciduous swamp forest. The driest part, to the west, contains a mature forest stand which is made up predominantly of white, red and burr oak, as well as white pine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mud Lake is a habitat for a wide diversity of animal species. Located within the Lac Desch\u00eanes\u2013Ottawa River Important Bird Area and in a major migratory corridor, it serves as an important environment for bird conservation, and is recognized as one of the most popular urban sites for birdwatching in Canada.” (cite National Capital Commission<\/em>)
